My 30 Days with the iPhone 17: A Tech Blogger's Real-World Review
After three weeks of daily use with Apple's latest flagship, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, I'm ready to share my honest take on whether this device lives up to the hype. As someone who's tested every major smartphone release this year—including Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra—I can confidently say Apple has delivered something special, though not without some trade-offs that potential buyers should consider.
Display Excellence: Apple Finally Catches Up
The most immediately noticeable upgrade is that stunning 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display with its new 7-layer anti-reflective coating. Having used the Galaxy S25 Ultra's excellent Gorilla Armor 2 screen for months, I was skeptical Apple could match Samsung's outdoor visibility prowess.
I was wrong. The iPhone 17's 3,000 nits peak brightness consistently outperformed the S25 Ultra's 2,600 nits in direct sunlight, and that anti-glare coating makes a genuine difference during my morning coffee runs. The new Liquid Glass interface in iOS 26 adds a premium polish that makes every interaction feel more refined than Samsung's One UI 7, though I do miss some of Android's customization flexibility.
