2024 Ford F-150 Review: The Workhorse Continues to Evolve

The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America for 47 years, and the 2024 model continues that legacy with a blend of capability, technology, and increasingly, electrification. This review will cover the key features, specifications, and what sets the F-150 apart in a competitive truck market.

Overview

The 2024 F-150 builds upon its already strong foundation, offering a wide range of configurations to suit diverse needs – from basic work trucks to luxurious, tech-laden cruisers. It's available in a multitude of trims (XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Tremor, Raptor, and now, the new Platinum Plus) and cab configurations (Regular Cab, SuperCab, SuperCrew). The biggest news continues to be the expansion of the PowerBoost hybrid powertrain and the continued availability of the all-electric F-150 Lightning.

Powertrain & Performance

The F-150 offers a remarkably diverse engine lineup:

  • 2.7L EcoBoost V6: 325 hp, 400 lb-ft of torque. A solid choice for everyday use and offers good fuel economy.
  • 3.5L EcoBoost V6: 400 hp (standard) or 430 hp (with Max Trailer Tow Package), 470-502 lb-ft of torque. The most popular engine, offering a great balance of power and efficiency.
  • 5.0L Ti-VCT V8: 400 hp, 410 lb-ft of torque. A traditional choice for those who prefer the sound and feel of a V8.
  • 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6: 430 hp, 570 lb-ft of torque. This is a standout option, offering impressive power, torque, and the ability to function as a mobile generator (Pro Power Onboard).
  • High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (Raptor): 450 hp, 510 lb-ft of torque. Specifically tuned for off-road performance.

Transmission options are primarily a 10-speed automatic across the board. 4x2 and 4x4 configurations are available. Towing capacity varies significantly based on configuration, but can reach up to 13,200 lbs.

Interior & Features

The F-150’s interior offers a comfortable and functional space, especially in higher trims. Key features include:

  • Technology: Available 12-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and FordPass Connect.
  • Comfort: Spacious cabin with comfortable seating, available leather upholstery, and premium sound systems.
  • Utility: Available interior work surface, Max Recline Seats, and ample storage compartments.
  • Exterior: Innovative features like Pro Power Onboard, Pro Access Tailgate, and BoxLink.

Dimensions vary depending on cab and bed configuration, but generally, the F-150 is a large truck. Careful consideration should be given to parking and maneuverability.
